About using of knife gate valve

1. Must inspect the valves cave and sealing surface before installation. Not allowed the dirt or sand attachment.

2. Bolts connect with every position should be uniform tightened.

3. Check the packing assembly, packing sealing as well as the flexible of disc opening should be garanteed.

4. Before installation, users must collate the valve model, connecting size and the flow of medium. Ensure consistency with the requirements of the valve.

5. Before installation,check valve, users must set aside the requisite space for vales driving.

6. The wiring of the driving accord to circuit diagram.

7.Knife gate valve must have periodic maintenance. Do not allowed the collision and compression to influence the sealing

 

The Application of gate valve

A Gate Valve, or Sluice Valve, as it is sometimes known, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid. They are so-named because the part that either stops or allows flow through the valve acts somewhat like a gate. The gate is usually wedge-shaped. When the valve is wide open the gate is fully drawn up into the valve bonnet. This leaves an opening for flow through the valve the same size as the pipe in which the valve is installed. Therefore, there is little pressure drop or flow restriction through the valve.

Gate valves are sometimes used for regulating flow, but many are not suited for that purpose, having been designed to be fully opened or closed. They are used when a straight-line flow of fluid and minimum flow restriction are needed. When fully open, the typical gate valve has no obstruction in the flow path, resulting in very low friction loss. Gate valves are not suitable for throttling purposes. The control of flow is difficult because of the valves design, and the flow of fluid slapping against a partially open gate can cause extensive damage to the valve. Except as specifically authorized, gate valves should not be used for throttling.
Gate valves are characterized as having either a rising or a nonrising stem. Valves with rising stems are used when it is important to know by immediate inspection whether the valve is open or closed and when the threads (stem and gate) exposed to the fluid could become damaged by fluid contami- nants. In this valve, the stem rises out of the valve when the valve is opened. Nonrising stems are used where vertical space is limited or underground. The stem is threaded into the gate. As the hand wheel on the stem is rotated, the gate travels up or down the stem on the threads while the stem remains vertically stationary. This type of valve will almost always have a pointer indicator threaded onto the upper end of the stem to indicate the position of the gate.

Bonnets provide leak proof closure for the valve body. Gate valves may have a screw-in, union, or bolted bonnet. Screw-in bonnet is the simplest, offering a durable, pressure-tight seal. Union bonnet is suitable for applications requiring frequent inspection and cleaning. It also gives the body added strength. Bolted bonnet is used for larger valves and higher pressure applications. Another type of bonnet construction in a gate valve is pressure seal bonnet. This construction is adopted for valves for high pressure service, typically in excess of 15 MPa (2250 psi). The unique feature about the pressure seal bonnet is that the body - bonnet joints seals improves as the internal pressure in the valve increases, compared to other constructions where the increase in internal pressure tends to create leaks in the body-bonnet joint.

Gate valves normally have flanged ends which are drilled according to pipeline compatible flange dimensional standards. Gate valves are typically constructed from cast iron, cast carbon steel, gun metal, stainless steel, alloy steels, and forged steels.

Description

Knife gate valve Red Valve's Flexgate valve is designed with a cast iron body or fabricated steel body, stainless steel gate, and two heavy-duty elastomer cartridge slurry seats. The port is formed by two heavy duty cartridge elastomer slurry seat halves. The cartridge slurry seats are available in various elastomers for chemical compatibility and abrasion resistance. A flush area at the valve's base provides a clean-out port. The Flexgate valve provides bi-directional shutoff. A heavy-duty topworks is standard.

The relatively simple design eliminates expensive overhauls, unscheduled shutdowns, and costly replacement parts - the only replacement parts are the slurry sleeves and the packing. Flexgate valves of 3"-12" are provided with standard handwheel mechanisms featuring cast handwheels, machined 303 stainless steel stems with yoke sleeves, and thrust washers designed to reduce operating torque. It is recommended that Manual Flexgate Valves 12" and larger be specified with a 4: 1 bevel gear actuator. The 4: 1 bevel gear actuator is available to reduce rim pull and operate the valve. Pneumatic actuators are also available, and allow the Flexgate to provide long-term abrasion resistance under high cycle conditions.

The Knife gate valve self-cleans each time it is cycled, making it ideal for automated plants. Red Valve manufactures its actuators using black Amalgon, a fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin. The actuator material is inert to most corrosive chemicals, hydraulic fluids, water, and oil. It has an operating temperature range from -90° To 225° F, and can withstand maximum working pressures of 250 psi. Inside actuator walls are polished and impregnated with a moly-disulfide for reduced friction and wear. The piston seal is a long-lasting O-ring. The piston rod is sealed with a lip seal, which is protected by a rod wiper ring. This wiper ring prevents dirt from being dragged though the seal.

Red Valve's Flexgate Valves are also available with hydraulic or electric actuators. Other options include limit switches, solenoids, air regulators, and chainwheels.

Baltimore, Maryland—The new line of Larox Knife Gate Valves may be advantageous over competition.

Along with the industrial cast-iron body and heavy duty stainless steal gate, each Larox Knife Gate Valve is fully loaded and originally equipped with a flushing port, limit switch mounting, locking gate, and both top and bottom stem protectors.

Each Larox knife gate valve has a heavier thicker gate and a "J" ring seat design that is able to withhold higher pressures than the conventional "C" ring design.

Valve Operation

When a Larox Knife Gate Valve is in the open position the two sleeves seal against each other in the center, providing a full bore that allows the slurry to travel through without touching any metallic components.

At this point, the sleeves are sealed tightly against both sides of the gate so that the line pressure is completely and efficiently contained.

How the Rubber Sleeves Work

In the valve housing there are two matching rubber sleeves that seal tightly against the gate when the valve is in the closed position and suction together when it is in the open position.

This tight seal provides the high internal line pressure, which, in combination with the double seated sleeve design, also permits perfectly tight shut-off.

There is a wide variety of sleeve materials available for different process needs.
